In the 11th hour, my client decided he'd like a different bridge than my norm. He wanted something a little less contemporary. I have no problem at all obliging him in his wishes. He really liked Dana Bourgeois bridges, so using Dana's and John Maye's as models, Here is what I made.







Im particular happy, since this is the first bridge I cut using NO jigs what so ever, well except for cutting the saddle slot other than that it was free hand forming.

That bridge looks like it belongs there. Your client should be very pleased - I know I would be. Are you going to put anything on it in the way of tung oil, etc.? Maybe not using jigs is a good thing. Great work.

I like it! What did you use to make it free-hand? Belt sander, or your robo sander, or? You got those holes perfect, how did you do it?

Shane, nothing on the bridge, ill buff it up a bit, but thats all, Hank, your's is pretty much the way my first revision looked, Tom (client) Asked that I scallop out the edges of the string block, no easy task for me, I wouldnt even consider than bird shaped bridge! Shish!
Jeff, I used my robo sander to form the back edge, after cutting it to rough shape on my bansaw, I used my saddle slotting jig for the slot, and for the pin holes, I just took the pin width (2 3/8ths) and divide it by 5, and marked the increments out, then I added .090 for the 2nd and 5th and .180 for the 3rd and 4th. making a nice smooth arch, I predrilled using a 1/16" bit to hit my marks dead on, then up to a 1/8th.

Nice work Lance.

I still haven't had time to make a set of jigs for doing bridge. But I guess I would probably save time in the long run if I just made the jigs.
